With every skill you can acquire or any tool you can work with, there will surely be faster methods to achieve what you know how to do – today, we’ll explore 5 strategies to save time in Adobe Illustrator that can!
It is always fascinating to find new ways of working with the design tool and keep your options open, whether you are just starting with Illustrator or have been your goal-to-tool for years because there are more than enough ways to deal with any tasks in a program and anything that can save you time on a task can make your entire workflow more efficient in future
1. Select similar layers
Illustrator has a marvelous function, which I would want to see in other applications more widely available – which enables you to choose layers depending on their looks. For example,
if you wish to choose all forms of a single colored document, you may just select the color of a shape, then go to “Select” > “Color Filling,” then click “Select” > “Same.”
This selects all layers with the same color for you then automatically.
This saves a load of time and can be done with any visual parameter, by using the same stroke, opacity, blending mode, and more you may locate comparable objects.

2.Move or rotate Touch Type single characters
With Shift + T, you may pick characters from existing text layers and move them regardless of other characters on your layer. This allows you to fix or refine the core of a particular character if it does not seem proper or if you can utilize it to create amusing compositions with your text. Similarly, once this tool is open and you have chosen a character, you may rotate a single character for a bit more expressiveness.

3.Lock the remaining layers
In Illustrator, it is customary to lock layers, which you don’t unintentionally want to touch when you upload new artworks. Clearly, you can just click on the icons of the lock, to check which layers are active and which ones cannot be touched,
but if you have stacked a lot of layers it might take a while to plan which layers are on and off. One simple way to manage this process is to simply hold down the ALT key (or Mac Option), then select the one-layer lock you want to be activated, locking all other layers at once, keeping you free to work on one layer while safeguarding any layers.

4.Set scroll and zoom locations using custom ‘Views’
Simply scrolling or zooming in onto particular portions of your artwork may be done manually in various regions of your artboard. But an easier way maybe. With ‘Views’ you virtually set up multiple cameras for your artboard. You may set a view to a large, zoom-out perspective, and then you can set a view that is really near to the details. You can specify any standard positions to which you may like to return.

5. Pop Out Tools from the Toolbar
Most design programs contain considerably more capabilities and tools than they could ever show, therefore it’s time to discover where things are buried. But it may not always be ideally positioned even if you know where the tool is. There may be some jobs you’re working on where you might want some tools to remain visible for a time behind drop-down menus. Fortunately in Illustrator, tools hidden in the toolbar can be used to stay in the display, as long as necessary, simply by clicking on the small arrow on the right of the down. All these tools will pop into your own small window and keep them there as long as you do.
